Prompt #7: Research Re-Construction
Create a top four list of the research topics presented, prioritized by the topics you feel will be most important for your success as an early-service teacher.
1. Modifying Curriculum for students with Special Needs 2. Character Counts 3. TEKS structural components and organization 4. Core Curriculum
I already and will have to in the future modify the curriculum I use for my inclusion students. I have realized it is not about completely changing it; it just needs modifications and maintain some level of challenge.
1)I think TEKS is was of the most important things that I will need to be familiar with as an early service teacher. After becoming familiar with TEKS then I think I will be able to have a better idea and feel for what I can really do in the classroom.

1) Ron Clark's 55 rules It is a teacher's job to model and convey correct actions and attitudes to their students. In addition, most of these rules will benefit the students throughout their lives and in many different situations. Amazing how good manners can pave the way for other interactions. As my mother always says" You only have one opportunity to make a good impression"
2. TEKS It will be very important for my employment to have a deep understanding of the TEKS. and for my students to do well on them.
3. Inclusion classes To have the opportunity to teach students with either physical or mental disabilities, will in the end make me a better teacher. Empathy!!!
4. Fenwick English's Work I really like the idea of there being a plethora of answers to one problem. We all tend to view life from our own perspective,so having an open mind towards the students view on life and their learning. I also think it is important to have mental self control in class and in life, although it can be a struggle. JJ
#2: TEKS Structural Components and Organization by Nick Comey
#1: Modifying Curriculum for Students with Special Needs by Wade Parks - I was SCARED into choosing this one as my #1 because of all of the BOLD WORDS! (Just kidding, the emphasis was very helpful in navigating the research.) From what I've heard and witnessed in Texas's ever-changing educational policies, inclusion will be a part of virtually every classroom in the state. Differentiating instruction catered to both the "gifted" as well as the special needs students will most definitely play a vital role in developing my teaching methods.

thinking and provide important life skills.

TEKS will be most important because those are our state standards that we must build our curriculum to them.
